Day 11 … tick tock, nearly at half way!

April 12th, 2009
  • Energy = 9/10
  • Focus = 9/10
  • Joie de vivre = 10/10
  • No issues again with the fast.  I do miss eating, but don’t feel any lack of energy or negative effects and the head rushes only happen occasionally when standing quickly.

I think my sense of smell has improved though as when I played poker the other night I could smell the cigarette smoke from outside the pub and it was so strong I thought someone was smoking inside.  I don’t know exactly how my taste has improved but would assume it has.  I do touch to my tongue the yummy dips and things that I’ve been conjuring up in the kitchen to make sure they are flavoured enough and the key thing I have sensed with them is the overpowering flavour of the garlic.  When I’ve questioned the friends eating these delights as to whether there is too much garlic, none of them have agreed.

I’ve worked out one of the downsides of fasting for this long… you have to buy more clothes!

I’ve noticed that my jeans and shorts are starting to fall off me.  Two pairs which fitted well previously have been sitting on my hips so I decided to go shopping today.  I am aware that my body will increase when I start eating again so didn’t want to spend loads buying a whole new wardrobe so I just bought a few things.

My new wardrobe for only $18

    • 5 pairs of jeans (including Levis and Lee Cooper)
    • 2 long sleeve warm tops (which are not in the photo)
    • 1 woollen body warmer
    • 2 jackets (Levis and Mooks)

And all of the above cost me the grand total of A$18!  I love going to the RSPCA Op Shop (second-hand shops are called Op Shops in Australia … I think it’s Opportunity shops as the items inside get another opportunity to be used) and every fortnight they have a bag sale which means you can fill a bag with clothes for only $9.  I filled two today and they even threw in a few other bits and pieces as they are such a great bunch who work there.  Moral of the story in this economic climate: check out your local op shops whenever you pass them as you never know what you’re going to find.  And a big Thank You to Kerry who served me today and good luck with your fasting when you start next week !  For anyone considering it, if you’ve never done it before, I suggest a 1 day water fast in the first month, a 3 day juice fast in the second month and then a 7 day fast when you’re ready if you really want to.

Wealth is what you have left when you take away all your money

A$100 - did you know that the Australian notes are plastic. It means you can go surfing with them and they don't get destroyed. Also great if you forget and put them in the washing!I read this the other day and it really resonated with me.  I don’t believe that wealth is measured with money;  it’s a good yardstick if one is required, however truly wealthy people are wealthy from the inside and don’t need things outside of themselves to prove who they are or how well they’re doing.  As a result, I like to tithe what I earn.  I haven’t been religious about this as in my opinion, it is also possible to tithe with  your energy and time, however with my little windfall the other day, I decided to take $400 out from the bank to give to random people and friends.  I chose two good friends who I gave $100 to each and with the rest of it, I’m keeping a stack of $20 notes in my back  pocket to do something I’ve always wanted to do.  Whenever I see someone in the street do a random act of kindness such as pick up a piece of litter and put it in the bin or help someone who obviously needs help, without request, I’m going to give them some of my stack.  It’s my own special way of giving a little bit back to the people who care to reinforce to them that it’s all worth it.

    Cooking up a storm

Here are a few dishes I’ve made recently for friends.

I went to the Chinese supermarket today and also found Thai red rice (which I can’t wait to try!) and other yummy treats to add to my recipes.

A few dips and treats I've been making with my new Oscar. It makes preparing raw wholesome foods so much fun!

    As if by Magic …

As a result of a sending in a document I created as a memory jogger during the recent Don Tolman course I went to (which inspired me to do a lot of what I’m doing now with food and health), I have been invited back as a guest to their next course on the Gold Course.  I spent over $1,800 on a group of products and courses with Don Tolman and would have paid triple that for the benefits I’m receiving as a result of the investment I made in myself.  I can’t speak highly enough about Don and the information he’s sharing and if you can ever get to one of his events, I’m sure you’ll agree.

If you’d like to know his opinion on what food really does to your body and how you can eat yourself healthy, I highly recommend investing the 28 mins to watch this interview with him.  (Note: Drag the slider along to 1 minute as the first minute is all graphics and intro.)

If you aren’t ready to invest 28 mins in that last video, watch this short one and see if it’s enough to get you to invest the time – Don talks all about the medical industry.  It’s about a doctor in the US who sends people for heart surgery who don’t even need it!

Finally, if you want to go to one of his events in Australia, book this Free Evening with him through Fortune Events asap – it’s awesome and the information is so simple and useful in everyday life.  There’s also a short video about cancer in this link.

Click here to book Don Tolman’s free evening in Australia

P.S. For those of you not in Australia, there are a handful of videos on Youtube with Don and despite the interviewer’s style in some of them, there is heaps to learn.

Time for bed for me now.

Let me know your thoughts and hope you’re still enjoying this.

Ok David Woodier, so you have to post EVERY day now. I mean, now you have got us all following your fast no news could potentially mean you have fainted from starvation and banged your head on the way down. Now unconscious and bleeding heavily with some piece of furniture gorged into your brain you could be being mauled by some stray cat and covered with creepy australian things who will tuck into your emaciated body. As I am in total disagreement with ‘Don’ (I hope you don’t end up with a jaw like his – is that from fasting (?!)) and thus refusing to join in the love-fest that is tactical approval of this, I demand instead you do some sensible life status updates !
      Phew…got that off my chest… :)

Hi David. Hm, interesting post above mine. Sophie must have had a really good reason for her opposing opinion. There are always two sides of the story. I have just watched 28 min video and absolutely loved it. I have seen Don speak 5 times so far and there is always something out there about him that fascinates me more and more. Great blog. See you when I see you :o )

      Hello David,

Great information about your fast. I have started a water fast for the next 14 days after seeing Don Tolman at the Gold Coast last weekend. I am on day 2 :) So far so good. A bit of a headache but that’s about all. Miss not having my morning coffee, and cups of teas but other wise I am keen to see how I go towards the end of my two weeks. How are you going?
      Cheers
      Lisa

Hope my learnings prove useful. The biggest tip I have is to prepare for life after the fast. It is now you can get in to some good habits for later. Keep on going – you’ll be so proud of yourself and your learnings after you’ve succeeded.

I am so Proud of people who can actually think for them selves. The ones who can just have the courage to challenge Pharmaceutical/medical myths. Sophie it appears in under such academic(trivia-indoctrintation) through her chant learning at factory schools… she obviously gets threatened when someone speaks of things not given as a “correct” answer to put in blanks in order to get a grade. I know her and her inner circle of friends agenda. I wish them all well. Again David, Rado, and Lisa thanx for being Scholars and carrying a spirit of personal freedom and personal experience. I’m convinced you can’t to anything of any value in a public way without being slammed, verbally attacked, character assasination, finger pointing and beyond. I love people who can challenge themselves to find the power of nature made foods, fasting and principles of Health.
